Aria Bléu Talks Music, Fashion & More…
Q: Can you introduce yourself to the audience? When did you start making music?
A: Hello, readers! My name is Aria Bléu and I am an R&B artist based in Philadelphia, PA! I first started making music shortly after my time on NBC’s The Voice in 2018. My debut single, “On & On” was released in October 2019 and shortly after was followed up by my debut EP, “Familiar Stranger” in January 2020.
Q: What can you tell the public about your newest single Theory of You?
A: Well first…. it SLAPS! Haha. “Theory of You” is what I call a “quarantine baby,” where all of the extra time spent inside working on music with my boyfriend, Shaq (producer) birthed this super fun song along with many other gems that are soon to be released! Theory of You captures a moment that we all know too well — when you have fallen for the potential someone has, the theory of who they are, as opposed to the reality of the situation-making them just another fallacy.
Q: How do you come up with ideas for content for your page?
A: Honestly, this is something I have been really trying to work on a lot these past few months. I want to be super consistent with posting without compromising the quality of my content. I think one thing that has helped me the most is just being proactive and planning my content out in advance while ensuring the overall vibe of my page is cohesive.
Q: What is one thing you want your fans to know about yourself and your music?
A: I think the main thing I want fans to know is that this is only the start. I have been doing a lot of behind the scenes work to ensure my next step is always better than the last. I want them to be able to count on me for endless growth and an insatiable hunger for the best possible product. I believe in my craft and in my growth and I want them to believe in me and where I am going enough to be there and help push me forward every step of the way.

Q: What does art mean to you?
A: To me, art is a medium, a vehicle. I believe art can take you places you have never been, but also take you back to the worst and best moments in life. Art is also timeless in an interesting way where one moment it can mean absolutely nothing to you, but in the next moment, reach the deepest depths of your soul. That is why sometimes it is so hard and ultimately inaccurate to judge art objectively. If it is ever-changing, who is to say your opinion today will not be completely altered after experiencing even 24 more hours? Art, and music especially, is so special to me and has gotten me through my worst times and was a soundtrack to my highlights.
Q: How does fashion intersect with your career? How about other art forms?
Oof. This is a tough one, fashion has never been my strong suit. I remember when I first began my professional career as an artist, I cared so much about maintaining a cohesive fashion sense and vibe, but I felt like I was limiting myself severely. My style ranges so drastically (& constantly) from wearing my boyfriend's clothes to putting on the girliest dress you have ever seen. I love vintage looks, but also super trendy ones. I feel like the clothes on my body really depend on my mood.
Q: Who would you like to work with down the line? Why would you like to work with them and what would you work on with them?
A: I can not choose one, so I have to say two: Daniel Caesar or Masego. Can you say TALENTED! Like whoa. Both of their music is incredible beyond words and I think my style of music, writing, and vocals will pair so nicely with theirs. I think a song with Daniel Caesar would definitely be slow, lots of harmonies, super emotional, and raw…. & I think a song with Masego would be super funky and jazzy, upbeat with a cool creative concept, and just a banger all around.
Q: What do you like most about the music community?
A: The cool thing about the music community is feeding off of each other's energies and ideas. Influence does not only come from studying the greats that came before us, but it also comes from being in a studio session and your friend yawned a weird way and somehow it gave you an idea for a different run. It comes from the support that follows and the experimentation when you’re in the studio and it’s a no-judgment zone. That is the best part of the music community, just being able to influence others and be influenced.
Q: Who is your favorite singer? Why?
A: Lauryn Hill, hands down. Between her runs, her harmonies, her adlibs, the content of her music, overall swag, and that rasp! Phew. There is no competition. She is my #1 influence and if I can become even half the artist she is I am happy.
Q: How do you decide what song you are going to release?
A: Hm, good question. I really like songs that are pretty short and sweet with cool concepts so if the song has that, it is usually a top contender. Sonically, I like the song to bring feelings of nostalgia with cool melodies and a catchy chorus. But ultimately, it relies on the replay factor. If I can not listen to the song back to back for days at a time, I do not want it.
