Malcom Harvest a.k.a Blck Jagger
Q: For starters, introduce yourself to the audience. How would you describe yourself and your music in three ways?
A: Malcolm Harvest aka Blvckjagger aka the Chief aka Change maker. I would describe my music Medicine for the heart. There is music that is the key to life. My music is the direct representation of my spirit.
Q: How old were you when you started music? How have you grown and evolved from day one? What made you decide music was going to be your career?
A: As soon as I could start to make a vibration, I was doing music. I always tried to find a way to express my creativity, with dance, drawing, or singing. Now that I am grown I have maintained that same imagination from when I was a kid just making noise. I have learned how to become a very powerful artist with the creativity that is inside me. I try to keep the same mindset to where I was when I was a child, where nothing matters but at the same time everything matters. I have grown and evolved as an artist with believing in myself and what I can do. This can become a battle with the mini doubts that come into your mind, from illusions around you, that distract you from yourself. But you are the source of your own life. The more fear that I face, the stronger I become. Until you embrace being you, you can not present the truth, or the true you. I had to focus on how I can continue to grow for myself, as a creator.
Q: What would you say makes you unique as an artist?
A: I am completely myself. I learned that I could not become who I wanted to be until I was attached to nothing. So what makes me unique is I am an artist who also embodied and learned the ways of the world because I was in it. But now because I do not belong to that, I belong to myself, I move a completely different way. I am not competing with anybody but I am just trying to impress myself every day.
Q: What can you tell the public about your single Free? What is your favorite line on the track?
A: “There are no more rules to the game, We Free.” That is probably the most important line for me because when I wrote this song it was like thirty minutes in the booth, everything just came out, with this one line stuck in my head. My goal with this song and the energy behind it is to inspire everybody to Free themselves from every single thing that they thought would hold them back. Also, to Free themselves from any impossibilities and start to embrace all things as possibilities. Once we can get through this whole self hatred thing, because we all are a reflection of each other, how we can make a better place for each other, and the children. I was very intentional about crafting this song, being that words are so powerful. The song is coded with many layers, with who I am directing it to, but it is for everybody. Everybody needs to be involved for it to work, creating a better world for everyone and the children, to make a change. To see a better world come forth and heal each other. To be Free.
Q: How do you incorporate your vision and values in your music? How about in music videos?
A: I am really focused into creating the visual art, which is definitely the next phase. I am using these images that are created to tap into different frequencies to meet people where they are. My values are truth, loyalty, law, and order, and of course love. Love is the most transformative and most powerful force in the universe and I use those values in the images I create to be in tune with my audience.
Q: What is one positive and one negative thing about social media? Would you say social media helps your career?
A: Social media is a great tool, everything is a tool. You have to understand that you are the creator. So when you understand that you can understand who is running the show, within you. When I get on social media, I want to uplift people and empower people, this is done with positive images. I want to uplift and empower the world. You have to have the right spirit within yourself before using a tool. Having an intention and motive.
Q: How do you implement what your fans and team want to hear but still keep it your own?
A: At the end of the day it has been very easy for me because I do not have attachment to things, but I do know that ultimately, I can always get what I want. It is just about coming to agreement. You have to be able to keep your boundaries at all times, so when you take things to other people your boundaries are already set. I am never going to give my power up to anybody. When it comes to doing anything that I do, I make it so there is room for collaboration, so there are no overstepping of boundaries. That is the ultimate relationship is interdependency and collaboration.
Q: Where do you see yourself in five years? How will you get yourself there?
A: I know in five years I will be greater than I am now. Everyday I am greater. I do not need anything in particular anymore. My home is where I go, because my body is a temple, and as long as I am bringing joy to myself and other people, then I am good. I do not need to have a five year plan because at any given time I can build the things that manifest in me, immediately. Everything I need is within me.
Q: What can you tell your fans and the public about what is in the works now? Any new videos to your newest singles?
A: It is about to get super lit. We are getting ready to put together a short film that is going to blow your minds, called Free Forever, which is coming out soon. Then we are going to drop a bunch of visuals, build this Blvck Jagger world, and it is going to be so amazing. We are going to create some really amazing art to just uplift people around the world, with bringing the truth. With the truth, it will set everybody free.
Q: Has anybody ever gave you a piece of advice that has stuck with you throughout the years? If so, who gave it to you and what was the advice?
A: I used to think the saying, “Think and pray before you speak and act”, from my grandma was the best advice until my mom said “Do your best and the creator will do the rest”. This is literally how I live my life. I do not worry about anybody's expectations. I stay being my best, so that way I am always ready.
