Osanga: The Acrylic Artisan
Like everyone she has things that motivate her. When speaking on what pushes her she stated “My family is my motivator. Not the family I was born into but the one I created once I moved to United States at age 15. Every time I have a bad moment and question my craft they are there to remind me to pick my ass back up and paint. Not completely sure if they like me sharing their names but they know how much I am appreciative of the undying support.”
Q: What is your favorite medium to work with?
A: Hands down it is Acrylic. It is a medium that understands my emotions with how I want to articulate it into a surface.
Sometimes I want it to run like the river and other times I want it to be stiff as a tree bark so I can sit for hours and do points with a fine brush. It is a free medium, I adore it.
Q: What is your favorite part about art?
It is the best form of therapy. Life is rough but when I pick up that brush and paint what I dream, think, breath and live it is a release that no therapist can give me. It saved me more times than I can count. Art provides me with balance so I can stay a high functioning human in the society.
Q: How would you like to expand on your career?
A: The way I will expand my career as an artist is by creating an ecosystem that is only generated by creativity. Giving our youth an opportunity to take all forms of Art into the next level. Let’s face it science may build artificial intelligence but the artist will make it look good.
Q: What are the three favorite colors you like working with the most?
A: That is a hard question... I would say I love ultramarine blue, Ruby Red and Primary Yellow.
Q: What would you like people to know about you?
A: That I am an artist and my work speaks to who I am as an individual. Once people get familiar with my work they will know who I am.
Q: What do you do during the time you are not working on your art?
A: I dance and I cook. I was a pastry chef and ran Restaurants for 11 years. Dancing is the way I stay fit after spending hours sitting in my art chair and drink excessive amounts of milk tea.
Q: Who is your biggest inspiration?
A: My life. So much material comes from it I cannot paint fast enough.
Q: Who is your favorite present artist and past artist? Why?
A:Bob Ross not because he paints but for the way he teaches. Plus that dudes Afro is epic
