KAI CA$H Talks about music, mental health, and more…
“What’s going on y’all, my name is Kai Ca$h, I’m a musician, author, entrepreneur, and mental health advocate from Brooklyn, NY.”
Q: How would you describe your music, to the people that have not listened to you?
A: I like to describe my music as “exquisite simplicity”, meaning it’s simple but it is an acquired taste. It is something you do not get any more, a breath of fresh air.
Q: What is your creative process when making music? How about with your music videos?
A: 1993 is my latest EP and is very near and dear to my heart. I named it 1993 because it is the closest I could get to a self-titled project, which I am saving for my first album. It is the most honest and vulnerable body of work I’ve ever released. I really feel it shows the many facets of me! My favorite song right now on the project is “New Me”. But honestly, my favorite song changes depending on my mood!
Q: What do you want your fans to know about the song and video for Again?
A: “Again” is not my usual vibe but I wanted to let the consumer know that I am very versatile in style and I can adapt to any sound, I am a true chameleon. As far as the video, I wanted to conceptually show a (fictional) rags to riches story, from robbing the bank to being up and having fun with ya people.

Q: How do you maintain having fun while creating and working?
A: I love music, music has always been my passion so for me creating and working is the same thing. It is my art form, I do not even look at it as work, it is me expressing myself. It flows naturally.
Q: What is Mental Health Mondays? How do you maintain having good mental health?
A: Mental health Mondays is my show that I hold to get things off of my chest as well as allow others to do so. It is an open forum, where I let people talk about how they feel, sort of a peer-to-peer therapy session. Real moments, unbiased, judgment-free zone for the people. To maintain good mental health I practice things like prayer, meditation, journaling, speaking to people, and creating to help me keep my mind out of the hole and onto things I care to do.
Q: What are some goals you have set for the year? Are any of these goals challenging to you?
A: Some goals I have set for this year are:
$100,000 net by the end of the year
5,000 YouTube subscribers
More monthly listeners and plays on my artist profiles than last year
A Billboard placement of some sort
Greater peace and happiness
More hits!
Every goal is a challenge simply because I am really comfortable and sometimes it scares me. The more challenging the better though, I feel like the challenge makes the achievement much more rewarding and fulfilling.
Q: What do your virtual concerts entail? Would you keep doing them even when things get better and open back up?
A: I have been blessed to have a few virtual concerts and I got the chance to work with live instruments and bands, custom backdrops, real artist moments for the audience to get the chance to get a glimpse of my creativity outside of the actual music. Shoutout to my guy Shajuan “BBEARDED” too! Yeah, I am open to continuing with virtual vibes, especially for places I may not be able to get to insufficient timing.
Q: How do you feel about having so many streams with your music and so many followers on social media?
A: Sometimes I feel like it is not enough, but I always remember where I began. To see how far I have come always puts that extra boost back into my life and career in itself. The followers used to be very big to me, I have grown to come to the fact that it is truly all about the music, everything else will come with that.
Q: What is your favorite bar on your most recent release? Why is this your favorite?
A: Sheesh, this is an intense question lol. I would have to say “Destined, determined, depending on no man, nobody, no nothing, no ni*gas..” on my song “Blue”. This is my favorite line because of how true it is, it is really my reality, of course, I have a team but I really did this and got this far off the strength off of the grace of God & faith instilled in me.
Q: Who would you like to have featured on Mental Health Mondays or on one of your Virtual Concerts?
I would definitely love to have a legend like Puff or Hov on Mental Health Mondays, strictly because they’ve been in the game for so long, I wanna know how they were able to their stability in such a wicked industry for this long. Definitely Hov or Mary J Blige on one of the virtual concerts.
