Painting With Sean Martize
Q: What do you like about painting? Do you like any other mediums of art?
A: I love the way the paint flows it is very freeing. I also like spray paint, watercolors, graphite, ink and markers.
Q: How do you decide what color to use for your paintings?
A: My choice of colors depends on a lot. It might be a color of an album or a color associated with the person. Sometimes it could be contrasting colors or whatever I feel at the time. It really all depends.
Q: What made you want to do art around well known people?
A: Humans are intriguing, I wanted to explore that. I think at the end of the day they're just normal people. They're vulnerable, complicated, etc. I want to capture that.
Q: What is the coolest project you have made so far?
A: I have been working on a Kid Cudi series. I have about 15 paintings
Q: Would you ever want to open your own studio, one day?
A: I actually have a studio. However, one day I would love to open up my own gallery/workspace for creatives. I imagine it would be like Andy Warhol's Factory but with my own twist.
Q: How big do you make your paintings?
A: I usually work in 36x48 inches but I've worked as big as 48×60 inches. I would love to go bigger but I need more space.
Q: Where is your preferred space to work in?
A: My art studio. It's my place of Zen
Q:What kind of paint do you like working with the most?
A: Acrylics because of the drying time. But I also love watercolors too.
